Kwame Ture Society

Howard University

We, the Kwame Ture Society, united hand-in-hand in the ongoing battle against the colonization of the minds, bodies, spirits, and lands of all African peoples, are an organization founded with the purpose of educating and elevating people all across the African diaspora. Our goal is to create dialogue and promote conversation through history and theory while also giving back to our respective communities through service initiatives.

We are named so to honor the late Kwame Ture, the activist, revolutionary, and alumnus of Howard University’s Department of Philosophy. While at the Mecca, Ture was chair of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), member of the Liberal Arts Student Council, the Nonviolent Action Group, and a staff writer for The Hilltop.
